Erfie is a free tool for South Africans who want to understand the residential property market — without paying an estate agent, a bank, or a data company for the privilege.

The name comes from the Afrikaans word erf: the piece of land your house sits on. Erfie — your little erf — is the friendly diminutive.

What we believe

• The same property data the banks use should be available to everyone, clearly.
• Public data published by Stats SA, FNB, Absa, the Deeds Office, and the metros is the legitimate, authoritative source for SA property prices — not scraped listing portals.
• A useful property tool doesn't need to show you every listing. It needs to help you make a better decision.

What we won't do

• Scrape listing portals against their terms.
• Show you "live" data we don't actually have.
• Claim an AVM-style precise valuation we can't back up.
• Sell your data or your eyeballs to advertisers.

How it's built

Erfie is a static-first web app on Astro and Cloudflare Pages, with Supabase for auth, the watchlist, and any user-submitted data. All the market data is refreshed via scheduled jobs (GitHub Actions) from official public sources.
